11/10/2009: the n°10 ENM letter is sent to all subscribers.

Besides HERE can be found a list of school textbooks for which secondary school and high school students of Befokata would be grateful. If you can lay hands on such textbooks, take them to the headquarters of the association, at Jacques Drouhin’s place, rue de Preuilly ( Auxerre). ENM will make sure they reach their destination. THANKS ON THEIR BEHALF.

09/10/2009 : meeting of the bureau at Racines Hall, Talk about “Moringa” by Jérôme Frank : three decisions were reached : to build the houses sheltering the secondary school students’ boarding place and to take part in the International Solidarity Week on November 7th and … to write out N° 10 ENM letter.

Nicolas Sersiron, who left for Befokata in the middle of May will be back soon (on June 18th, hopefully) with fresh news : he purchased , in ENM ‘s name, a 5,000-acre plot of land on which is to be built the students’ community hall, which is our association’s Top project for the years-to-come.

You will find HERE the presentation of the project exactly as it was sent to UNICEF and to the Europe Delegation in Madagascar so as to get some funds: this ambitious but realistic project indeed requires great financial means which largely exceed what ENM can afford. All donators are thus welcome!

Romain David and Elvina Gorecki, both young osteopaths about to complete their training, will take over from Nicolas in Befokata in July : they will be able to give the doctor useful information and the patients of the community clinic will benefit from their expertise .

Latest news

Nicolas Sersiron, our president, is to stay in Befokata from May 20th to June 20th. It is essential to be on the spot to check what has been done and accompany the projects in the making. He is to meet people familiar with BRF (agricultural technique allowing to save large quantities of water). They must assess if such a process can apply to Befokata.
An osteopath student might also go there in July
Thanks to one of our member who works as a high official in European authorities, we are writing out an application for financial support for the project of a Students’ community hall in Befokata. This place would be composed of several buildings for the secondary school students, for Meline, and for occasional visitors. It would be equipped with self-sufficient energy sources and facilities to teach market-gardening and the use of vegetable resources.
Meline is fine, the medical staff is efficient.
The “Pharmacie Sans frontiere” association(NGO?) has agreed to provide us with medicines in big hospital packaging for the community clinic; there is now accuratebook-keeping of the medicines actually used there.

TO BE NOTICED: since 2002, when we started our action there, the only actual improvement made by the state has been the Tarmac trail; for everything else, only the impetus of associations have turned into small changes and achievements which, although encouraging and rewarding at a local level are still totally insufficient from a global point of view.
